Throughout my studies at the University for the Creative Arts in Rochester, UK and during summer breaks I always used the opportunities to find work experiences and internships in different Fashion Avenues.
Beginning of August 2011 I did a small internship at the retail fashion company Warehouse in London, where I learned more about the corporate business and working with Technical Drawings
At the end of August 2011 I found a young millinery designer Bee Smith, who I could very much help hands on, sewing and creating such beautiful intricate hats for special occasions in her small London studio
January and February 2012 I was able to take a peak into the renowned and beautiful evening and bridal wear designer Jenny Packham in London and helped get the new Fall 2012 collection ready to be shown at London Fashion Week. A lot of work and late hours hand sewing beads onto these amazing dresses, learning more about pattern cutting and using such fine fabrics (which would later come very much in handy with my final collection where I used chiffon and tulle)
July and August 2012 I took a flight out to New York (after working for two months during my summer break to earn the money for it) to finally be able to meet and work for Marchesa - a designer who always inspired me, creating the most beautiful and stunning evening wear. Working on draping, pattern cutting and research for new collections from her New York Studio overlooking the Hudson and running errands delivering or sourcing fabrics through the city!
One of the great special Hats I was able to sew and help create while at Bee Smith
